Woody Bay, nestled on the picturesque Exmoor Coast, will take your breath away! The rocky haven is enveloped by a steep, wooded landscape that will delight your senses as you make your way down to the beach. On the way you’ll encounter some fun signage that will surely bring a smile to your face. Around a hundred years ago, plans were made for Woody Bay to become a holiday resort on the same level as neighbouring Lynton and Lynmouth. The owner built a pier and golf course to draw in wealthy visitors. However, due to damage caused by storms and a lack of funds, the project never came to fruition and the owner died in prison. Today, Woody Bay continues to be a highly sought-after destination with the hotel being the only reminder of its intended grandeur. However, its beauty and serenity remain, making it a magnificent place to escape to.
