Hidden away between Prawle Point and Start Point is South Devon’s very own secret, Lannacombe Beach. If you’re looking to get away from the bustling summer heat of the South Hams, this is the perfect spot for you. Not only is it a considerable distance away from the better known towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe, you’ll also have to battle with winding country roads to get there. That being said, the car park is very small and can only hold about 15 cars, so an early start is recommended to snatch up the best spots. Once there, you’ll be overwhelmed by the beauty of this wild stretch of coast. With high grassy headlands that provide some shelter from the wind, and a secluded sandy beach down in the valley, as well as rocky areas with plenty of rockpools and a small stream running down the beach, make Lannacombe the perfect place for a family day out.
