Beesands Beach is a beautiful stretch of shingle, nestled between the sea, a freshwater lake called Widdicombe Ley, and the village of the same name. The village is a dream of quaint cobbled streets, dotted with picturesque cottages, shops and a pub looking out to the sea. At one end of the beach are cliffs with remarkable rock formations and, reaching the village and beach is an old country lane, adding to its sense of timelessness. In the 90s a sea wall was built to protect the village from erosion and large rocks placed at the beach’s tide limit cover its entire length. This makes Beesands a safe place for family beach days – there is even a children’s playground for younger visitors. For dog owners, they can enjoy all year-round visits with their four-legged friends.
