Instow Beach beckons with its famed soft golden sand, and during the summer months is filled to the brim with happy vacationers. With protected waters tucked away in a sandbank at the edge of the Taw estuary, the beach is a top choice for families looking to bask in gentle waves. From the beach you can even take a kayak ride down both the Taw and Torridge rivers and the village itself is a short walk away, where you can find nearby restaurants and shops. Unfortunately, we must note that the beach has failed to meet a minimum standard according to the Bathing Water Directive, meaning swimming is not recommended on this beach at this time. Despite many efforts, it isn’t clear whether the quality of the waters will improve in the near future.
