The beautiful and serene Grunta Cove sits at the foot of the cliffs in Morthoe, just a few steps away from the nearby Woolacombe. The beach is quite small but its still a great spot to explore during low tide, with a variety of rock pools to discover. Although this spot is not ideal for families due to the lack of space, its still a wonderful place to relax and take in the tranquil atmosphere. Legend has it that Grunta used to be the sites of turbulent events centuries ago, when a boat carrying a cargo of pigs ran aground. The next morning, the peaceful village was filled with the sound of these animals. Whether this is true or not remains a mystery, however, the neighbouring Morte Point (meaning ‘Death Point’) is known to have seen its fair share of shipwrecks.
