Situated in a sheltered bay between Paignton and Torquay, this stunning beach has a red sand beach that is perfect for building sandcastles and exploring the rock pools that are revealed at low tide. Backed with similar red sandstone cliffs, it’s a great spot for sunbathing. You’ll need to watch when exploring the cliffs though, as due to previously needed rock armour protection work, visitors should still stay mindful of the nearby sandstone cliffs. For added convenience, there is a freshwater stream which runs across the beach into the sea. As the beach is slightly more removed from car parking than other local beaches it tends to remain less crowded. The best access from nearby Hollicombe Park/Gardens is through a tunnel leading onto a slipway, or a footbridge with steps leading onto the beach. Finally, for all your other needs, the nearest toilets are found at Paignton Beach.
